How to Shop Faster with Carto — Beginner's Guide

Why grocery runs take longer than they should

You forgot the milk. You walked past the same aisle twice. You're scrolling through a Notes list you typed three days ago. Shopping takes too long — not because it's hard, but because it's poorly prepared. Carto is an iPhone app designed to fix that.

Step 1 — Build your list before you leave

Open Carto and switch to List mode. This is your prep space: add everything you need before you even leave the house.

Type an item in its category field and confirm. If the item already exists in your personal catalog, Carto suggests it automatically. If not, it's created and remembered for next time.

Items are organized by category — produce, pantry, dairy. Once you're in the store, you can shop aisle by aisle without scanning the whole list.

Step 2 — In the store, switch to Shopping mode

When you arrive at the store, switch to Shopping mode. Your list appears, and you simply check off each item as you put it in your cart.

Checked items slide into the Purchased section. You always see what's left at a glance — no more scrolling back to the top of a long list.

Step 3 — Close the session in seconds

Done shopping? Carto asks you to close the session. One quick confirmation and you're done — the list resets. Items you didn't check stay on the list automatically for your next run, perfect for things that were out of stock.

Pro tip — Shop as a team

Shopping with a partner, a roommate, or for the whole family? Share your list with someone else. Both people see the same list in real time and can check off items from their own phones. No more double-buying the butter.

Ready to get started?

Download Carto on the App Store and create your first list in under two minutes. Most users notice the difference right away: less stress in the aisles, and grocery runs that actually end when they're done.
